What Treasures Will You Leave Behind?

In the article KEEPING A JOURNAL - ONE OF THE THREE TREASURES TO LEAVE BEHIND(excerpted from the "How to Keep a Journal" audio series by Jim Rohn)

Jim makes great points. He says that a journal is very important, but is number 3 on his list. Just guess what number one is!!

"The first treasure is your pictures. Take a lot of pictures. Don't be lazy in capturing the event. How long does it take to capture the event? A fraction of a second. How long does it take to miss the event? A fraction of a second. So don't miss the pictures. When you're gone, they'll keep the memories alive.

The second treasure is your library. This is the library that taught you, that instructed you, that helped you defend your ideals. It helped you develop a philosophy. It helped you become wealthy, powerful, healthy, sophisticated, and unique. It may have helped you conquer some disease. It may have helped you conquer poverty. It may have caused you to walk away from the ghetto. Your library, the books that instructed you, fed your mind and fed your soul, is one of the greatest gifts you can leave behind.

The third treasure is your journals: the ideas that you picked up, the information that you meticulously gathered. But of the three, journal writing is one of the greatest indications that you're a serious student. Taking pictures, that is pretty easy. Buying a book at a book-store, that's pretty easy. It is a little more challenging to be a student of your own life, your own future, your own destiny. Take the time to keep notes and to keep a journal. You'll be so glad you did. What a treasure to leave behind when you go. What a treasure to enjoy today!"

If you think about it, portraits (paintings/photos), documents and diaries fill museums. What are you going to leave as your treasures?

Blog Tag and I'm it?!?!

Alrighty then...Jennifer Grigg, tagged me and the motivation to blog just has escaped me, I should have put this post up a good while ago....arg. I have to come up with 8 interesting things about myself....hmmmmmmm.

I love pirate themed things ...I know its out of control. It all started with that game...Monkey's Island. Its awesome. http://www.scummbar.com/ will tell you all about it...lol. Lucas Arts, gotta love 'em. Which I dare say the first and second Pirates of the Caribbean in the Disney Series is completely based off of. I'm sure eventually I'll grow out of this phase, me maties.

Ever since the seventh grade I've been curious about all things 3-d, you know stereographs and holograms 'n the like.

I have my bachelors in Geography from the University of Utah...Go UTES! I have my Associates from UVSC in Graphic and Commercial Art. I guess though as of this summer, they are UVU...Go Wolverines! I'm thinking about getting my masters, because I love school..maybe I'm nuts.

I love Museums and PBS.

My favorite ice cream is rocky road with the little marshmallows. NOT the kind with the swirl of marshmallow cream. ewwww. It has to be the little marshmallows. LOL.

I love smart ideas and learning how things work. All that behind the scenes stuff and understanding how we got this product or to that conclusion.

I love good design, it doesn' t matter what era its from, if its good design it will transend - useful things can also be beautiful!

I am a Fontaholic! shhhhhh. I love http://www.myfonts.com/.

What Every Marriage Needs (10 secrets to lasting love)

I read a great little article in Women's Day by Arricca Elin SanSone. Here's the list, of course the article expands on each but they're great tips.
1-a fair fight
2- a reminder of your love
3- A Great Photo of the TWO of You - "No, your wedding photo doesn't count. It can be a candid from the holidays or a family wedding, as long as it's recent (less than five years old). This shows your commitment to remaining a couple."
4- A joke no one else shares
5- A reality check
6- A promise to stay healthy
7- A willingness to ask for help
8- Time together and time apart
9- An acceptance of your differences
10- A commitment to work things out.

Of course if your looking for help with #3, just give me a holla!

Live Happy!
Lyndi

Tennessee Birthday Event!!

This Birthday Lunch has been going on for at least 50 years! It was fun to be flown all the way to Tennessee just for the special occasion. It was sooo fun meeting everyone and getting to see the rolling hills of Tennessee.

My goodness and we stopped at the most fun antique malls. I got myself an antique fan...and I sure needed it! It was sooo warm and humid...well more than I'm use to, living in Utah and all. Check it out! I even had a chance to have REAL Tennessee Barbeque!! YUMMY!!

E2 Salt Lake City @ Salt Air...Saweeet.

Brody and David took us on a Field Trip out to Salt Air and had a great time!! Afterwards we spend the day learning more and more, and even had a chance to talk one on one with the two of them! It was sooo helpful to get such different points of view. Check out my pretty pics of Miss Cash!!

Day 2 of E2!!

Today we started with a little photo shoot..then off to the world of work-flow. My goodness, David and Brody know what they're talking about! They were sooo generous with their time and knowledge! Its really a rare thing to find in this photography world, to find people who are genuinely helpful on their own trusting in Karma to return the favor. Thanks Guys!!

Now these two little Love Birds are getting married in August and they were meant for each other!! Thanks Cash and Justin!!

E2 Ever Evolving Seminar in Salt Lake City!!!

Brody Dezember and David Salomone are hosting a great seminar in Salt Lake City!!! I'm so excited and learning a ton!! Today we searched for backgrounds and talked about the process of looking for places to shoot along with tips on how to further our creativity and think outside the box. These two are a couple of smart cookies. Its really interesting to see how other people think and their thought process. It's also very cool to be inspired by other photographers.

I also had such a great idea!! We came across this Storage Place, and I thought what a cute "save the date"!!!! We could put the garage door with the number in a calendar like it belonged there or find cool numbers in the city and photograph the couple around/with those numbers!! It would be soooo fun!! LOL.

Oriana & Ben Congratulations on the 5 year Anniversary!!

It was so much fun to do a night shoot with these two! Can you believe that strawberry moon we just had? It was night of their anniversary and I took 'em up the mountain to a spot where teenagers are likely to make out! LOL! Needless to say it was a fun fieldtrip!

Check out Oriana's site, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of her!

Here's some pics!

Holy Cow!! 1886 Wowsa!

It turns out I love the end result after restoring an old photograph! I love the feeling that its an heirloom and I've made it possible for generations to get to know their heritage. Well maybe not their heritage, but they can see what their great-great-greats where wearing and look like. Its amazing to see family resemblances. LOL. Anyway this is Mrs. Maude Lyman as a baby in 1886...before and after restoration.

Mrs. Backer's Pastry Shop!! Yummy.

We stopped and got some delicious cupcakes for my bro's birthday. What a lucky guy. This shop is sooo charming and yummy! If you want to get some they are at: 434 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City or you can call them at 801-532-2022 and order something scrumptious!

Alas the cupcakes I ordered I didn't get pictures of...they were scarfed before I grabbed the camera...lol! Although, you can get some of the triangle cakes in the pictures ....ohhhhhhhhh...delicious!
